[24 Aug 2005|11:09pm] this is the report from firehouse on the fire i went to yesterday. EUSTIS, Fla. -- Firefighters rescued a 99-year-old man from a burning house Tuesday afternoon and they said he should be okay. The fire started near a utility closet in a boarding house on Russell Avenue in Eustis. Two other men got out on their own, but told police the elderly man was trapped in a front bedroom. When firefighters arrived, the house was already in flames. Two firefighters ran in and brought the man out. "The good point is it looks like he's gonna do alright. He may have got a little smoke, but he's 99 years old and he left out of here in pretty good shape and we're hoping for the best for him and my guys did an outstanding job," said Chief Roy Tremain, Eustis Fire Department. The man was taken to the hospital. Investigators said they weren't sure what started the fire. 8 fools X raise up

I HAD MY FIRST FIRE YESTERDAY!!!!!! [24 Aug 2005|10:11am] shit it was fucking amazing, the fire was out in eustis they called us for help, said they had heavy smoke and flames showing from the residence, and people inside, so im thinking holy shit, this is my big one,  so they wanted us to catch they hydrant when we got there, so me and rob jumped out, hooked up to the hydrant, then timmy took off in the engine to the house flaking out all our hose, we used all of it 1200 feet of 5inch hose, a fuckin lot, we opened the hydrant and gave them water, then we had to walk the 1200ft in full gear hot as fuck go to the house, heavy smoke and flames, my lieutenant took my id tag, so they know who's in the fire and me and rob go in,  just as we were going in eustis was pulling out an elderly man, he is gonna be ok, they got him out before he inhaled to much smoke, and that was an amazing feeling to see that a man is gonna live because of us, had lake county and eustis there, i went in with the pike pole, started ripping down ceiling, then got on nozzle for a little bit and knocked down fire in a couple rooms,  rob had to go out to get a ladder so i eneded up being with the lieutenant for eustis, first time meeting him was in the fire, and he knew it was my first one, and he was super cool, we were searching for more fire, pullin ceiling, useing our tic, opening windows, and he just kept telling me good job, and was loving how much he saw i was loving doing my job. all guys were in there  were like LIL DAVE WASSSSSUUP, having some fun, the heat was definatly what i expected in there, fucking HOT. once we went outside after being done, cause my air was running out, firefighters and whoever come help you take off your gear, give you water and just hangout for a little bit until your ready to go back in, my chief and captain were telling me good job, firefighter from eustis and lake county said the same, i just had the biggest smile on my face the whole time, it was amazing the news came, had helicopter flying over had to pick up 1200ft of hose which isnt fun, but everyone helped each other picking everything up, and we just rolled it up and threw it back on the engine and loaded it back up when we got to the station., my gear smells like fire got it all dirty, its amazing. this is by far the best job in the world and i love it sooo much. 3 fools X raise up

[19 Aug 2005|09:41am] i just got off a 48 hour shift, my first 24hours we ran 14 calls, 80% of them were good legit calls, second 24 not to much action i got my first animal rescue, we had a cat stuck in a drain, it was a little boys cat, so we pryed opend the gates to get acess into the drain, then since im the smallest, it was me who was going in, so we put an attic ladder down, i put my gear on and climbed in, i had to use our tic which is used for finding victims in fires it shows you where any hot spots are so i used it to find the cat, and i found him way down in the drain, we eventually got him out, seeing how happy the little boy was, was worth it all. i only have today off, i have work again tomorrow, im supossed to go ride trails with some winter springs firefighters later, but that depends if im not sleeping, and i gotta go to the gym. breakfast time. raise up
